Silverpoint is a type of drawing in which an artist uses thin pieces of silver wire held in a stylus to make marks on prepared paper. ... artists continue to work in silverpoint, breathing new life into this revered medium. The results are finely rendered, sensitive portraits reminiscent of those of the Old Masters.

This vibrant village is home to a lively music scene, farm-to-table eateries, charming boutiques and cafes, the SUNY New Paltz campus, and historic Mohonk Preserve.
In 1677, a group of twelve Huguenots (French Protestants), known as the "Duzine," purchased nearly 40,000 acres of land near the Wallkill River from the Esopus, which became known as the "New Paltz Patent." The founding families and their descendants built the stone houses that stand to this day in the National Historic Landmark District along Huguenot Street in the village of New Paltz.
According to July Lasky of the New York Times New Paltz is sporty, brainy, cultured and beautiful. Cradled by a mountain range, surrounded by meadows and forested preserves, cut through by a river, anchored by a state university and speckled with historic houses, shops and galleries, it attracts athletes, day-trippers and art lovers.
