  PRIVATE PROGRAM FOR PHILIP LEVINE
​EXPLORING THE ISLAND, UNDERSTANDING ITS ECONOMY,    DISCOVERING ITS PEOPLE, THEIR HISTORY AND CULTURE
​Duration 8 days and 7 nights of learning, fun and friendship in Cuba

​Accommodations
•​Private Home Stay "Casa Leo", Central Havana.

DAY 1 – SATURDAY: ARRIVAL, HELLO CUBA
•​Arrival at Havana’s José Martí International Airport. Collect your bags and go through customs. You’re welcomed at the airport lobby by your private driver.
•​Private check-in with assistance from your hosts. 
•​Free time to settle in and rest up at Casa Leo.
•​Dinner not included.
•​AFTER DINNER: Your guide with keep you posted on local entertainment options.​
DAY 2 – SUNDAY: EXPLORING OLD HAVANA, OUR COMMON HERITAGE (BREAKFAST)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
•​Visit The Museum of the Revolution. The Museum of the Revolution is a museum located in the Old Havana section of Havana. The museum is housed in what was the Presidential Palace of all Cuban presidents from Mario García Menocal to Fulgencio Batista. It became the Museum of the Revolution during the years following the Cuban revolution.
•​Followed by a walking tour of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We’ll visit four of the five historic plazas that make Havana unique in the western hemisphere. It contains the largest collection of remaining colonial-era architecture. This is a private tour led by your guide.
•​Cathedral Square, the most beautiful and private 18th century colonial plaza on the island. Named after the masterpiece of Cuban baroque architecture: the Catedralde San Cristóbal de la Habana built by the Jesuit order.
•​Visit Taller Experimental de Gráfica de La Habana (Serigraphy workshop center).
• Visit The Square of Arms, an ancient military parade ground for Spanish soldiers, surrounded by impressive buildings such as:
*​Palacio de los Capitanes Generales, former seat of colonial government. Today the building houses the Museum of the City.
•​We continue onto San Francisco Square, one of the oldest plazas in the historical quarter. The square is named after magnificent Iglesia y Monasterio de San Francisco de Asís dating from the 16th century. The basilica is a striking example of Cuba baroque architecture.
•​And then on to Plaza Vieja, the only civic square of colonial times. Absent are churches and government buildings, and is in contrast surrounded by opulent aristocratic 17th century residences. We’ll visit an important center for the visual arts.

DAY 3 – MONDAY: HAVANA - LAS TERRAZAS ECO-COMMUNITY (BREAKFAST AND LUNCH)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
•​Morning departure and tour of Las Terrazas Eco-community.
•​Lunch at Las Terrazas, included
•​Tour and enjoy San Juan River.
•​Tour the studio residence of Lester Campa, a well know Cuban artist.
•​Return to Havana.
•​Dinner tonight is not included.
DAY 4 – TUESDAY: BEACH DAY (BREAKFAST)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
•​Departure to Santa María Beach. Free time to enjoy the beach.
•​Lunch not included.
•​Return to Casa Leo.
•​Dinner tonight is not included.
DAY 5 – WEDNESDAY: ARTS (BREAKFAST)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
• Visit Santacana Art Gallery and studio to see the exhibit of Cuban artist Beatriz Sala.
•​We'll visit José Fúster, one of Cuba's most important ceramists and painters at his whimsical studio in Jaimanitas, just outside of Havana.
•​Lunch not included
•​Visit the Art Gallery and Studio of a contemporary Cuban artist.
•​Return to Casa Leo.
•​Dinner tonight is not included. 
•​EVENING ENTERTAINMENT SUGGESTION: Casa de la Música de Centro Habana or Casa de La Música de Miramar, the best settings to listen to great traditional music. Dance with Cubans and foreign visitors 
DAY 6 – THURSDAY: HEMINGWAY (BREAKFAST)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
•​Visit Finca La Vigía (House and farm of Ernest Hemingway Museum).
•​TOUR HIGHLIGHT: Special lunch prepared by private restaurant El Ajíaco, not included.
•​Visit Cojímar, small fishing village one of Hemingway’s favorites places in Cuba.
•​Visit the Centro Cultural Antiguos Almacenes de Depósito San José. This marvelous restoration of an old dock warehouse has resulted in a gigantic market exhibiting the wares of hundreds of Cuban artists and craftspersons.
•​Return to Casa Leo.
•​Dinner not included.
• EVENING SUGGESTION: SPECIAL “¡Noche de fiesta cubana!” party with live music at Club Fábrica de Arte Cubano (transportation and cover not included)
DAY 7 – FRIDAY: ARTS, AFRO CUBA (BREAKFAST)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
•​Visit the Museum of Fine Arts (The Cuban Collection)
•​Lunch not included.
•​Visit the Church of Regla dedicated to a Black Virgin Saint; the Museum of Regla featuring Afro Cuban artifacts.
•​After Regla we will head to the east of Havana to the municipality of Guanabacoa to learn about more about Afro-Cuban religion.
•​Visit Callejón de Hamel (Hamel’s Alley) to see the artwork of famed Afro-Cuban Artist Salvador González.
•​Return to Casa Leo.
•​Dinner tonight is not included. 
DAY 8 – SATURDAY: HAVANA, HOME (BREAKFAST)
•​Breakfast at Casa Leo.
•​Check-out of Casa Leo.
•​Transfer to José Martí International Airport for flights home.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

- A non-refundable deposit of 300 dollars is required upon registration to the program.
- Final payment is due 45 days prior to departure.

- Airport transfers. We meet you at José Martí Int'l Airport in Havana and take you to the private accommodation upon arrival. We return you to the airport for departure.

- All breakfasts, lunches, and dinner as per itinerary.

- Car or van transportation and professional driver.
