Kim shares his direct approach to light and shadow and demonstrates and work individually with all students. Kim paints a brief demo each morning to help you see, understand and successfully execute the importance of massing in big shapes - simplifying what you see in front of you. Spouses, partners or friends are warmly welcome and I will help organize special activities for them.
Here's what Kim says about the best reasons for taking workshops:
"It takes a lot of courage to take a workshop. You’ll not only meet some interesting people, but you’ll see how other people solve problems in ways that maybe you haven’t thought of yet. But I guess the main reason would be that art can be a very solitary profession, so there’s nothing like being with a group of painters all working out problems together."

ABOUT KIM ENGLISH
Kentucky based painter, Kim English, depicts in his paintings the simple beauty found in daily life. Known for his mastery of chiaroscuro, each piece speaks to the true focus of English's inspiration the harmony existing between light and shadow. His subject matter, ranges from a street fruit stand in Mexico to sun filled windows which create a particular mood. The viewer is introduced to moments wrapped in depth and texture, emphasizing his application of paint. A feeling of spontaneity is maintained by completing each painting in one sitting utilizing the alla prima method. Immediacy is important, according to English, not only because it reflects the nature of people, but for me, it is the most instinctive way to paint.

Well, how exactly do you get to Aix en Provence?
1) You can fly into - Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) and take the fast train (TGV) from the airport to the TGV station in Aix. Then it's a short cab ride to the hotel.
2) You can fly into CDG and take a connecting flight to the Marseille Airport. Sounds like the airport in Marseille is a long way from Aix, but it's not. It's only about a 25 minute cab or bus ride..
