Having marveled at the works of Sorolla’s “Visions of Spain” at the Hispanic Society in NYC since being a young art student long ago it has been a dream of mine to travel to the source of these amazing works. This workshop offers that opportunity.
To paint in plein air, in the land of Sorolla, where he did countless studies of flamenco dancers, courtyards and garden scenes.
My hope for this traveling workshop is not just to paint the landscape in and around Seville, Spain, but to also paint the character of the
people. We plan on having morning and afternoon poses with local male and female models. Using the backdrops of beautiful garden settings, courtyards and along streetscape motifs, these sessions will begin and end each day with demonstrations in composition,
light and color as well as hands on instruction. Evening critiques and discussions not to mention the richness of texture, great meals and and complete immersion of Spanish culture.
I hope you will join me on this amazing adventure filing your senses with what will be an unforgettable creative experience.

Some cities blast you away, others slowly win you over. Seville disarms and seduces you. Its historic centre, lorded over by a colossal Gothic cathedral, is an intoxicating mix of resplendent Mudéjar palaces, baroque churches and winding medieval lanes. Flamenco clubs keep the intimacy and intensity of this centuries-old tradition alive whilst aristocratic mansions recall the city’s past as a showcase Moorish capital and, later, a 16th-century metropolis rich on the back of New World trade.Welcome to one of the most charming cities of Spain.
Seville’s rich history has left the city stuffed with innumerable monuments like the awesome cathedral , the third largest in the world, the Giralda tower, the wonderful palace of the Reales Alcázares, the magical Barrio of Santa Cruz with its narrow streets, and the passion for Flamenco and for the perfume of orange blossoms on every corner.
Sevilla is well connected to Madrid by the Spanish high speed train AVE. The city also has an international airport and you can hire cars at Seville airport to visit other cities.
